Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and the city council just voted unanimously to approve the next Houston Police chief.
Executive Assistant Police Chief Troy Finner will be the next Chief of Police in the City of Houston.
Troy has long been the mayor's trusted confidant, and he joined HPD back in 1990, which makes him a 31-year veteran of the department.

Chief Art Acevedo confirmed he was leaving to head up Miami's police force.
